THE MO MUG STORY

I started MO MUG about a year and a half ago. I was looking for work after returning home from a couple of years abroad, and in my spare time began decorating ceramic mugs with mustaches. It wasn’t long before friends and family began asking me if I could “Mo their Mug”, and then it became friends of friends, and then… well I’m sure you get the picture. It was obvious that this was something that people really liked. I started looking at ways to get my designs to the mass market, but was shocked when I realized the numbers of so called ‘disposable’ paper and plastic cups that are thrown away each year. I knew that I did not want Mo Mug to be a part of this problem. In fact, I decided, in a late night moment of inspiration – what if Mo Mug could be part of the solution? A reusable coffee cup. Not only would the mugs have a great design, but they’d be doing their bit for the environment too.

WHY MO MUG NEEDS YOUR HELP

Mo Mug isn’t just a cup with a mustache on the side – it’s a concept that can help create an awareness of the effect our daily actions are having on the world around us. I’ve started this kickstarter campaign in order that I can spread the word, and help the Mo Mug message reach as many people as possible. Things that money from your pledge will go to include:

• Materials for Mo Mugs – the high quality porcelain that I want Mo Mugs to be made from ain’t cheap!

• Advertising and Spreading the Word – the more people that know about Mo Mug the more people that are likely to start thinking about their disposable cup usage

• Expansion – the stash design isn’t going to be for everyone, but the concept should. I’m looking at designing more reusable mugs with a different theme

From Tony Small himself…

“We believe with the right design we can encourage and create desire for people to use reusable coffee cups.  And believe it has to be done sooner than later with 58 billion paper cups seeing the tip every year. That’s why we have created Mo Mug, the mug for the everyday man (and women of course).”

We happen to think this is friggin’ awesome so please help Tony by backing this project!!
